Episode 29: A suffering servant
Paul, also known as Saul of Tarsus, had once been a zealous and violent persecutor of the church. You can hear what sounds like regret over his past in some of his letters. When you remember his story, and imagine that regret, it helps make sense of the way he repeatedly speaks of his willingness to suffer for the gospel, including in his letter to the Colossians. But what does he mean when he says that he’s “completing what is missing from Christ’s sufferings” (Col 1:24)?
